I believe William Kentridge does not need much introduction. He is a very well known South Aftrican contemporary artist, which has by now produced few decades worth of artworks, ranging from drawing to his brand-style hand drawn stop motion animation, to theater productions and large scale installations. In the newly opened MMCA exhibition, all of these works come together. The show is very large, probably the largest ever solo show exhibitied in the (short 3 year) history of MMCA Seoul. Given the large number of time-based works, the show is time-intensive, however that’s simply the nature of Kentriges work. Overall, it is the most impressive show I have ever seen at MMCA, as well as the most comprehensive Kentridge retrospective I have ever seen. Definitely worth checking out.
