A small exhibition space located in a traditional Korean hanok house (courtyard with single rooms around it), a few blocks from Gyeongbokgung station.
There were some paintings, some text-based work and a large table-like installation. The works seemed rather separate and I could not find much connecting elements that would bring them together as one exhibition story. The table-like structure was interesting as it nicely fitted with the architecture of the space. For the paintings of stuffed animals, I appreciated the installation but did not really know what to make of it content-wise. And then there were swimming paintings, and some poetry I could not read.
There was a very neatly designed exhibition booklet which seemed to contain some story that would probably help to piece the works together if I only could read it. The booklet was part of a whole “corporate identity” of the exhibition, centered around a yellow half-circle that repeated itself throughout the communication materials (booklet, “signpost” object in the exhibition, poster, take away button pin, etc.).
“Watermelon wrapped around cock like a half-selling rap, cool as a crunchy yellow radish, summer time, such as half-moon hanging in the sky looking up while wandering the holding jammot tropical night.” (Quote from exhibition text from the space’s website, google translate.)
