Malinovského 2, Brno, http://www.dum-umeni.cz
On the second floor of Dům Umění, which is a larger space that the ground floor, Vojtech V. Slama’s “Colorjoy” was a show oscillating between images from an adolescent’s tumblr or facebook feed and a display of sample prints in a printing shop: Colorful, mostly figurative images from the author’s daily life and travels. The images were printed on a number of different surfaces – medium size print on canvas, smaller size wooden board, and large-size poster. The popular print-on-demand technologies, combined with the lomography style (plus the author’s own motorcycle and a couple of selfies on display) resulted in something that could be acceptable in some coffee/bar targeted at students old enough to drink, but I completely missed the point why this was displayed prominently at an institution with a “long tradition of being one of the most significant influences on Brno’s culture” as quoted from their website.
