Cristina David’s solo show curated by Michal Novotny was compact and but precise in meaning. Although not stated, I am guessing that Cristina David was one of the artists-in-residence at Futura and this was a show reflecting the time and events that happened in Prague. The space was almost empty except for a few minimal text, video and sound works. The connecting theme was a feeling of every-day-ness, something quite private yet of universal validity: A brief correspondence with the artist’s brother (?) who became a monk (seeking oneself horizontally vs. seeking oneself vertically); a photo of the artist’s father’s library accompanied by a short story; a story about grasshoppers committing suicide because of a virus in their neural system…. As a show, it showed the sensibility and internal feelings of the artist which one could universally relate to: It was a show that managed to tell a good story.
