This show has a bit of a ‘showroom feel’ at first. The polished LED displays in the white space looked similar to the iPhones in an Apple Store. I also instantly recognized the arch-shaped displays that have been on show at Rockbund Museum in Shanghai earlier this year. The work was just too recognizable for me. At second sight, I found liking in the marble benches engraved with single sentences, this time in Chinese – the sentences were inversions of statements often heard in mass media or chit chat, e.g. “Experts cannot be trusted”. Still the overall feel of the show was a bit detached, just as an installation of ‘things’ within a certain space.
